Kara Sutra

Artist: Paul Nunn (website, Instagram)

Location: 1st & Blanchard

Mural Description
Painted during the Belltown Mural Festival 2026.

For his second appearance at the Belltown Mural Festival, Paul chose to immortalize (as much as you can immortalize outdoors with paint, that is) Kara Sutra, known as the mistress of Belltown, who is a local performer who has performed often at the Crocodile Lounge.

They are a quintessential aspect of the night scene and culture in Belltown and paying homage to this particular person felt like a very timely and specific reference to one of the lesser popularized and lesser known aspects of the arts and cultural community in Belltown.

Kara Sutra worked directly with Paul on this for full permission and the mural itself is created in Paul’s trademark aesthetic which is a series of rings that radiate from a central point in the lower left-hand corner and the broadness of these rings in this particular instance are visible from afar and become abstract up close almost like a circular version of a Monet.

The mural is a peek-a-boo moment. An ah-ha moment. Once you notice, you can’t forget it’s there. It adds whimsey to the alley.

Paul Nunn bio from Belltown Mural Festival:
Paul creates work that revolves around concentric dimensions hidden in plain sight, magic moments, and temporarily induced vertigo.
