Mural Description Painted during the Belltown Mural Festival 2026.

This mural, highly visible in an alley behind Zeke’s Pizza from Denny, is a direct connection to one of Seattle’s most iconic cultural artists, Nirvana.

The boots, the famous insignia, the famous bouncing ball smiley face, the books of birds, all Nirvana references within a stone’s throw of Seattle Center and Mopop felt like an important place to showcase these cultural elements.

Also directly connected to the mural to the south is Morgan Zion’s mural. These two murals really wanted to work together with their palettes and themes. It was an opportunity for two artists to work on independent projects nearby each other.

Artist Statement
I chose the pink docs up on the “plateau” of the building, with the illustrated book about birds. As a nod to Belltown’s roots with help shaping the grunge scene in Seattle. It’s also a obvious nod to #Nirvana and the famous cover of The Meats Puppets “Plateau”, which is arguably one of nirvana’s most famous songs from their live MTV’s unplugged performance in NYC. As well as the logo on the docs and the half logo on the bouncing ball.
