Painted during the Belltown Mural Festival 2026.
This piece bridges the two murals on either side of it together
The blues on either end of that mural are designed to relate to the other larger murals to either side with the epicenter of Lotus, a reference to the restaurant and ownership up above with a bright, vivid pink color to really attract your eye when passing by looking at it from First Avenue.
This smaller mural is visually significant and in Angelina’s style, which is highly geometric, highly colorful, and very referential to the structure that it’s a part of.
It is especially sublime how the colors capture the setting sun, pulling color and warmth through the parking lots to the wall. Imagine looking at it from 1st Avnue at sunset.
Artist Statement
This one’s an encore to my Belltown Mural Festival piece.
The request was simple: paint something that visually connects two existing murals nearby, by Carlos Aguilar (TheyDrift) and Joe Nix.
But the wall sits in a plain parking lot, so I wanted it to do more than connect, I wanted it to change how people saw the space.
I pulled my palette from Bangrak’s own branding and interior, and from color and imagery I carried back from time in Thailand. At the center is a giant lotus, renewed and reborn in a hard place. Emerging from its center, just as in the El Rey mural, I built a story: flames burn brightly into leaves, a sign of rebirth, and the chance to always renew.
